that makes two of us...there are plenty of Gefell->MiniMe sources....

I am actually considering borrowing a V3 in the next couple of months and give it a shot, but I really dont want to do it until I have the cash to buy one if I so desire...otherwise I could see myself making a knee jerk decision like I did on the mics...not a bad decision, quite the opposite actually :)

depends on the room, the p.a sound and the music.
i have had excellent results using it with um900,m990,m294,umt800,sms2000 either as a pre or a/d converter.
the m960 with the v3 didn't sound right.

d and i ran 200>v3 and 210>v3.......i reallyliked it, but it lacked in the highs a lil for my tastes, but was nice and punchy....

the latenite 210>v3 tapes i like a lil better than the 200>v3 from outdoors.......its a lil more crisp, and kinds rolls off the bass a wee-wee bit, IMO

very nice, and has a nice feel to it(the being there feel).......

sorry, thats kinda one of my first mics>pre reviews!not so detailed, but how i heard it

When we were considering getting the mme (which is for sale if you haven't heard). Cervin did alot oflistening of both the v3 and the mme paired with the geffell's (which are also for sale, sorry had to). He gave me a bunch of ones to listen to and we both agreed that when paired with the V3 the sound was very good, just seemed to be fatiqueing to the ears. In a way hard to listen to after awhile. WHile the mme really filled out the geffell's. WHich is why I think s many run this combo. It's sweet at 16 bit and awesome at 24 bit.  I'm a firm believer that THE best choice for the Geffel's in the mme.

" just seemed to be fatiqueing to the ears"

excellent observation.the v3 has a certain amount of "hardness" in it's sound.

Here is my take:
It depends on a couple of things playback gear and mic configuration.  When using the DAC in my old Denon I found the highs to be just a little much.  I very much enjoy a warmer sound and will only have soft domes in my playback.  However if you like the sound of B&W's, Paradigm, Energy, etc I think you would enjoy M210>V3.  After all our listening I think Rob and would have purchased a V3 in the future.  The lows are much better as they come off much more tight than with the mme.  Bean and I have different ears and I thought the highs were a litle much at first, but now I'm using a different DAC and less toe in on my sstem and it sounds very good.  I had run 480's for a number of years before going with MG's.  I found the highs and mids to be superior to the 480's in many situations. It also has a little better image than a M210>mme.  Personally I feel if you run CMC64>V3 now the difference will be in more in the lows and mids.  The MG won't give the big boomy bass (which is the one thing I don't like about the Schoeps), they will however give better mids and an open airy high.  My favorite combo with the MG's was with a V2 FWIW.  These are just MY observations.

yeah, they sounded nite and day w/ the 200/210 caps IMO, but the venue prolly had everything to do w/ that!!!i really liked the 210 caps, they seemed very lifelike w/ minimizing the pickup 8)

Try 200/210->mmp->mme...makes all the difference in the world.

There is a big price difference between running the v3 and running mmp>mme.  also, with running the mmp you dont run the risk of blowing up a unit (well not nearly as much, but hey i've never heard of a grace product catching on fire in the taperssection)

Scott - interesting observation on playback v. recording gear. my playback is clean as a whistle, I get my color out of my recording rig.
I’ve had a few weird experiences and a few close brushes with total weirdness of one sort or another, but nothing that’s really freaked me out or made me feel too awful about it. - Jerry Garcia
